Wreckfest 2 is the sequel to the popular racing and destruction game Wreckfest. This game was developed by Bugbear Entertainment and published by THQ Nordic.

Wreckfest 2

Yesterday, on March 20, 2025, Wreckfest 2 launched its Early Access on Steam. This means players can now get an early look at the game and take part in its development. The game will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Here’s everything you need to know about the Early Access.

What is Wreckfest 2?

Wreckfest 2 is a racing game that puts a strong focus on vehicle combat. That means during races you can ram your opponents and even destroy them. Once someone’s out, they can’t win — so that can definitely be a winning strategy. There’s also a Demolition Derby mode where the only goal is to wreck your opponents.

Wreckfest 2 Early Access Launch

Early Access for Wreckfest 2 began on March 20, 2025, at 6:00 PM CET exclusively on Steam. Other platforms will have to wait for a release — there’s no date announced yet. The price for Wreckfest 2 is €29.99 for PC players. But during the first two weeks, until April 3, 2025, there’s a 20% discount on Steam, bringing the price down to €23.99. As development progresses and more updates come out, the developers plan to gradually raise the price until the full release — so it’s best to grab it early.

First Impressions and Feedback

Initial impressions of the game are mostly positive. On Steam, the game has over 650 reviews, with 70% of them being positive. One highlight is the improved physics engine. Thanks to the updated ROMU engine, damage simulation and car deformation are now more realistic and detailed. The driving experience also feels more realistic and precise.

Wreckfest 2

Of course, there are also some negative comments, mostly about the limited content so far. But the game is still in its early stages, and the developers clearly state that if you want more content, you should wait for the full release. For Early Access, the game is perfectly fine, and buying Early Access helps support the developers. In May, the first content patch is planned to bring two new vehicles and two new tracks to the game.
