Witchbrook Is Finally Launching – 8 Years After Its Original Reveal
After nearly a decade, developer Chucklefish has finally given a release window for Witchbrook, the long-awaited pixel-art life sim. The cozy sim will launch in the winter of 2025 for Switch, Xbox, and PC.
Originally teased in 2016 as Project Spellbound, it was later named Witchbrook in 2017, and after years of silence on the farming sim, developer Chucklefish has announced a release for Winter 2025 for Xbox, PC, and Switch.
Witchbrook has evolved significantly, first transitioning from a classic view to an isometric layout in 2020. Eight years after its first reveal, excited fans will be able to finally play it later this year.

What Is Witchbrook?
Often likened to Stardew Valley, a game initially published by Chucklefish, Witchbrook offers players a chance to live out a magical life in the city of Mossport.
Set during an academic year at Mossport College, players will develop their magical abilities while learning about the college and expanding their knowledge through classes and assignments. Outside of the classroom, players can engage in extracurricular activities, customize their cottages, build relationships, and create lasting memories.
Why the Long Wait?
Since its initial announcement, Chucklefish has remained quiet about the game’s development. Throughout its sparse updates, the game has undergone several major overhauls, which has no doubt delayed the game more than expected.
Chucklefish CTO Rodrigo Braz Monteiro revealed the game to be “the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on,” with the company eager to push the game out to players. The developer has put a lot of effort into polishing the sim to ensure players have a “space to relax and make lasting memories.”

Witchbrook is finally launching in late 2025, with a release window of Winter. The sim will finally launch for Xbox, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.
