Adapting video games into TV shows is no easy feat, and as we’ve seen recently with The Witcher on Netflix and Halo on Paramount, gamers don’t always tend to like the shows.

That being said, The Last of Us sits at a rating of 9.8 on IMDB, as critics and fans continue to praise the show’s opening episode.

Empire calls it a “superb example of how to make an adaptation work,” with the BBC calling it “the best video game adaptation ever.” and IGN announcing it as a “breathtaking adaptation.”

The Last of Us TV Show Review Scores:

  • Empire: 9.8/10
  • BBC: 4.5/5
  • IGN: 9/10
  • Rotten Tomatoes: 98%
  • Metacritic: 84%

The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal (Star Wars: The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones), as Joel and Ellie respectively.

You can catch every episode of The Last of Us every Sunday on HBO at 6 PM PT.
