Ubisoft has revealed their plans for the first year’s worth of content following The Division 2’s launch. They’ve also announced what the game’s Season Pass will include. How both relate to each other is kind of messy, so let’s take a close look at everything Ubisoft has unveiled so far.
After launch, the game will receive 3 major content updates in the form of episodes. The first one is called D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions and will have players chasing after elite members of the Outcasts and the Black Tusks in new locations. The next episode is called Pentagon: The Last Castle and takes the fight to the iconic headquarters of the Department of Defense. No details were revealed about the last episode for year 1, except that it will “pave the way for more thrilling content.”

As for the Season Pass, or the Year 1 Pass as Ubisoft calls it, it looks like most of what it gives is earlier access to most of the Year 1 content mentioned above. Those who purchase the pass will get to experience each episode 7 days earlier than everyone else. 3 new specializations will also be added over the course of the year and all of them will be unlocked instantly for Year 1 Pass holders. Those who don’t purchase the pass will have to unlock them through gameplay.
As for Year 1 Pass exclusive benefits, there’s a series of missions called Classified Assignments that aim to provide players with more story content revolving around the events leading to The Division’s arrival in Washington D.C.. Completing each one grants an exclusive backpack trophy.
Year 1 Pass holders will also have access to 1 additional Bounty per week and 1 extra Project per day. Bounties are special tasks aimed at eliminating specific targets, while Projects are various tasks players can perform for additional rewards. Your extra missions stop on March 1st, 2020, at which time we assume you’ll have to purchase the Year 2 Pass to continue receiving this perk.
Lastly, the Year 1 Pass will come with a couple of exclusive cosmetic items: the Agent Ward Outfit and the Scout emote.
The Year 1 Pass comes bundled with the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game, and will also become available as a separate purchase after launch. If you want to learn more about the Year 1 Pass and the planned content for Year 1, you can check out the details and FAQ here.
The Division 2 launches on March 15th for PC, Xbox One and PS4. An open beta kicks off tomorrow on all platforms, so make sure to give the game a try so you can decide if its something you’d want to play without having to spend a dime first.
