Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has officially ended after Rocksteady Studios released its final major content update on Steam. Less than a year after its release in February 2023, the live-service third-person shooter is now offline across all platforms.

Support for Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League officially ends

After less than a year since its release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has received its final content update. Developer Rocksteady Studios is no longer supporting the game with future content updates after the game fell “short” of expectations following its launch in February 2024.

Despite post-launch updates and seasonal content, Suicide Squad failed to excite gamers after an eight-month delay and a launch to mixed reviews. The game is still available to buy, and a new offline mode will allow players to enjoy all released content.

Final Update Details

The game’s official end comes with Season 4 Episode 8, which introduces a final mission against Brainiac. Rocksteady recently released Deathstroke as a playable character and added an offline mode for those who wish to play through the main story campaign and previously released seasonal content.

Those wanting to try the latest update can do so with friends in co-op, as the game’s online features will continue to be available.  Going forward, there will be no future content updates for Suicide Squad.

Lessons Learned for Developers

Developers and publishers see live-service games as high-risk, high-reward ventures. When they go right, like in the case of Helldivers 2, they can be massive revenue streams and can be adapted for TV and film. The problem is that when they go wrong, they can turn out like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League or Concord.

Meanwhile, Rocksteady Studios is reportedly working on a new Batman game. We’re all hoping for a new trilogy featuring the caped crusader.

Conclusion

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League support has finally ended, with Rocksteady moving on after Season 4 Episode 8. Are you still playing the game? Are you disappointed at the news? Let us know in the comments below.
