State of Decay 3 Using Unreal Engine 5

Undead Labs, the development team behind State of Decay 3, seem to reveal they are using Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) to build the game, according to their LinkedIn.

IS STATE OF DECAY 3 BUILT ON UE5?

Reports of State of Decay using UE5 comes from Animation Director Simon Sherr, who on LinkedIn revealed Undead Labs were opening a new studio in Orlando to work on the game using Unreal Engine 5.

It’s not the first time that fans discovered Undead Labs could be using UE5, as in July 2021, a job listing appeared on BambooHR seeking a Sound Designer to join the team’s Seattle studio to work in Blueprint, UE’s visual scripting system.

If the game does use UE5, you can expect it to benefit from the engine’s powerful virtualized geometry and real-time global illumination.

That means State of Decay 3 could be a beautiful game and feel much more immersive than its previous titles.

At the moment, though, we will have to wait and see as Undead Labs are yet to confirm what engine they are using to build the game.

When State of Decay 3 launches, it will be available on Xbox Series X, Series S, and PC.
