Ever since the beta, gamers have been appalled at Star Wars Battlefront 2’s very apparent pay-to-win factor. EA said that they’ll be making changes to the system to address these concerns, and now they’ve revealed some of the changes we’ll be seeing at launch.

In a post on the game’s official site, EA enumerated some of the changes they have planned after considering feedback from beta players. First, Epic Star Cards have been removed from crates and are now only primarily obtainable though crafting. Now, this excludes special Epic Star Cards given through pre-order, the deluxe edition, and starter packs.

Although players will still be able to buy lots of crates and break down contents into crafting materials for powerful Star Cards, they won’t be able to craft those cards without ranking up. Apparently, playing the game will be the only way you can upgrade your crafting ability.

Also, if you want to unlock weapons and gear specific to a class, you’ll need to play as that class. Class-specific crates will be unlocked as you hit milestones while using that class. These crates will also include Star Cards and crafting parts for that class.

Lastly, EA says everything in the game will continually be “iterated on and improved.” They also want to remind everyone that they are “committed to keeping the community together”, even reiterating that all post-launch weapons, maps, heroes and vehicles will be free.

“We know that the magic is in the balance, and we’re going to make sure that we continue to make a game that is fun for everyone.”

It’s great that EA seems like they’re taking feedback seriously. The only question now is will these changes be enough. We’ll have to wait and see.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will launch on 17 November for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
