Sony Planning to Acquire Capcom or Konami

Sony plans to acquire another video game studio, with rumors suggesting it could be Capcom or Konami.

Sony recently announced they were acquiring Bungie for $3.6 billion, but it looks like they plan to make further acquisitions before the year is out.

Last week, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan confirmed that Sony Entertainment Interactive is already looking ahead at other developers.

An insider claiming to know about the upcoming acquisition suggested Sony is looking at purchasing a Japanese developer.

Many believe it could be Konami or Capcom that Sony is looking at acquiring.

These rumors were fuelled when Kinda Funny Games host Greg Miller tweeted that they were delaying their PS I Love You XOXO podcast recording due to “big news.”

Sony, as expected, is keeping quiet and is yet to make any form of response or announcement detailing the next acquisition.

But if the rumors are true, we could be looking at a deal to rival the size of Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
