Guardians of Azuma offers a new action RPG spin-off set in the Azuma region, where you can build your own village with an extended city-builder component, as well as a unique story and design. With the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 during the Direct on April 2, 2025, new news from Marvelous has arrived. The well-known publisher has decided to postpone the launch of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma to the following week, with a new release date now set for June 5, 2025:

This new date aligns exactly with the availability of the Switch 2. It also announces the arrival of an Upgrade Pack for Switch 2 for those who have pre-ordered the game. The news of the new date, which delays the launch by 6 days, was not very well received. Although it’s just 6 days, the idea is that Marvelous should have communicated the date change much earlier. Additionally, there’s the issue of having to pay for the patch for Switch 2, even for those who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition.
The Switch 2 version will offer improved resolution and framerate. Most likely, we’ll see at least 1080p and 60fps in handheld mode, along with support for the Joy-Con 2 Mouse mode in the Builder mode. In short, the news confirms a better version for Switch 2, but it also comes with a paid upgrade and a higher price.
