PS4 & Xbox One Slowed Down by Hardware as Developers Cancel Games
PS4 and Xbox One consoles are being slowed down by old and outdated hardware as developers look to next-gen consoles when releasing their games.

DEVELOPERS WON’T RELEASE GAMES ON PS4 OR XBOX ONE
As the Xbox One and PS4 consoles grow older, developers find themselves with a difficult decision regarding their future games.
A couple of weeks ago, Gotham Knights developer WB Games Montreal announced the game would no longer release on Xbox One or PlayStation 4.
It was a bitter blow to anyone looking forward to purchasing the game for those consoles, but executive producer Fleur Marty has explained the decision.
Speaking on the game’s official Discord channel, Marty said they had to “prioritize and focus our efforts to deliver the game at a satisfactory level of quality for the current generation.”
Marty went on to say, “we really didn’t make this decision lightly, but in the end, we wanted to focus on delivering a game we’re really proud of.”
It’s always sad when developers stop focusing on last-gen consoles, but in many ways, it makes sense to concentrate on the current-gen, even if the Xbox Series X and PS5 are difficult to find.
And it’s not just developers moving away from the PS4 and Xbox One, as Sony themselves announced just weeks ago that they plan to no longer develop first-party games for the PS5 by 2025.
It’s probably good news then that Sony CEO Jim Ryan has promised to make PS5 availability the top priority.

Gotham Knights releases on Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 28.
