The Pokémon Day is finally here, celebrated on 27th February . As every year, we will have new exciting news regarding one most popular franchises in the world about the Pocket Monsters created by Satoshi Tajiri. A day full of news and celebrations both live and digital thanks to fairs, shows, and also content for the games in the series.

What is Pokémon Day

Pokémon Day is the franchise anniversary celebrated every year on 27th February , the day of the official release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan in 1996. Until 2016, events were mostly limited to Japan with exclusive merchandise at Pokémon Centers and affiliates. It was starting from 2016, marking the 25th Anniversary of the Franchise, that the event was expanded globally to bring the latest Pokémon news. It was also the perfect opportunity to announce new game content as well as new generations, such as Pokémon Sun and Moon announced in 2016.

The Pokémon Day showcase will take place on the Official Pokémon Channel on YouTube on 27 February 2024, at 6:00 AM PST (15:00 CET). And it will be presented as Pokémon Presents to celebrate the 28th Anniversary of the series.

What to Expect from Pokémon Presents

It seems that with the name Pokémon Presents, many new Pokémon-themed contents are expected to arrive on all platforms. We indeed have confirmation on at least some events. In particular, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will receive Mass Outbreaks of Pokémon in the shape of Pokéballs, specifically Voltorb and Foongus. With a particular boost to the chances of finding them in Shiny forms! But not only that, in fact, it seems that in the midst of these Outbreaks, a new Mysterious Pokémon may appear, one that is not normally possible to find in Paldea Is it a Hisuian Voltorb or perhaps a Jigglypuff seen from above?

And of course, themed merchandise according to the stores with promotional cards and gifts in participating stores, and therefore content for Pokémon TCG and Pokémon GO, not to mention discounts on games. As for the other games in the series, we can deduce that there is something special also for Pokémon Masters EX, the mobile game, which just a few days ago received an update with Gladion in Sygna Suit accompanied by Magearna. In fact while waiting for Pokémon Day the duo received an official themed artwork on Twitter (X).

Furthermore, there may be additional events and potentially Pokémon giveaways for the ninth generation, although it’s unlikely that this year we’ll have the return of all Legendaries and Mythicals as happened for the 25th Anniversary. However, it’s not unlikely that new DLCs, expansions, or even a teaser for the next games in the series will be presented, most likely the highly anticipated remakes of the fifth generation games Pokémon White and Black.
