Update August 1 – August has officially started and it brings with it the news of Playstation Plus Essential free games of the month. The next three games up for grabs are Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach, and Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights.

You can start adding these to your game libraries on August 6 and will be replaced by September’s lineup on September 2. Since there is still few days left before the change, don’t forget to claim July’s game which includes crowd-favorite Borderlands 3, NHL 24, and Among Us.

Original publication – It wasn’t so long ago that we learned which games are leaving PS Plus which, with the inclusion of NBA 2K24 and Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed, was sad news to say the least. Unfortunately, the unideal scenario for members isn’t over.

Because of how the schedule works and how the dates fall, the announcement and the availability of the Playstation Plus Essential free games will arrive later than usual. The official announcement for this is expected to be revealed on July 31, 2024 5:30pm CET and will be available for download on August 6. Yes, one week into the month which is more unusual than not.

If there is any consolation though, at least there is more time to download July’s lineup for those who weren’t able to do so yet. And if you haven’t, you wouldn’t want to miss out on that with Borderlands 3 and NHL 24 part of it.

The third game is Among Us, which although of course is a great game, striked some controversy being that it’s rather an inexpensive game which made the PS Plus subscription a bit overpriced for last month’s reward.

Hopefully for August, we get a full 3 worth-it-lineup. A lot of predictions are circling around but the favorite (and gamers most hopeful for) is Like A Dragon Ishin!. There’s still one full week before we find out so for now, check out July’s PS Plus Essential games list or better yet, the ones about to leave on August 20.
