Over 7 years after the release of Persona 5, a new leaker seems to have information about the next highly anticipated chapter of the series, Persona 6. With details on the story, gameplay, and even the release date.

Persona 6 Leaks – What we know about the story and the game

Although Metaphor ReFantazio, the upcoming new IP from Atlus, is in the spotlight, fans continue to seek information about Persona 6. At least tentatively titled as such, the next chapter of the Persona JRPG series has seen numerous rumors and alleged leaks over the past year. Especially following the Gamespot interview with the series producer and director, Kazuhisa Wada. In an interview, where he confirmed that the development of Metaphor ReFantazio hasn’t interfered with that of the next Persona.

Indirectly confirming with this interview in September 2024, that Persona 6 was in the final stages of development. Just a few weeks later, waves of alleged leaks surfaced, mainly from the Twitter(X) user: ramona 3 reload. The user, in a proper thread, seems to discuss the following Persona 6 content in-depth:

  • Protagonist: The choice of a dual protagonist for the entire game.
  • Main Theme: Duality as the central theme of the story, confirming the dual protagonist and the clash between modernity vs tradition.
  • Art: Green as the primary color of the game, and Art will play a major role in the story influenced by the location (Art School) and the media involved.
  • DLC: The usual cosmetic DLCs, which seem to be accompanied by expansions to the base game, unlike the previous expanded re-release formulas.

Persona 6 – What is the rumored release date and expectations?

The leaker also claims that we will see Persona 6 arrive in 2025, more specifically in the Summer of 2025. Quite a substantial amount of leaks from the user ramona 3 reload. A user who seems to be somehow connected to Midori, revealed this June to be MysticDistance. A leaker with a rather questionable history, especially towards the end.

It’s worth noting that if the Duality theme is indeed correct, a late May-June release would align with Gemini season, staying on theme. Though rumors suggest Persona 6 may be announced at The Game Awards 2024 in December.

Atlus, however, seems primarily focused on Metaphor ReFantazio, their new IP. Which to cover the medieval fantasy spectrum not handled by Persona (contemporary setting) or SMT (near-future setting). Metaphor ReFantazio will be released on 11th October, 2024, and will take center stage at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 starting this 26th September. In short, we’ll most likely have to wait a bit longer for official news about the next Persona game.
