PC Gaming Show E3 2019 Highlights
With over 30 presenters, PC Gamer put on the biggest PC Gaming Show yet at E3 2019. There were a lot of big reveals and we also got fresh looks at some highly-anticipated titles. In case you couldn’t watch it live, here are the highlights:
VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE BLOODLINES 2
PC Gamer invited senior narrative designers Bryan Mitsoda and Cara Ellison from Hardsuit Labs to talk about Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2, giving us insight on what it feels to be a vampire in the game. They also showed off the first gameplay footage for the game which you can view below:
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is shooting for a first-quarter release next year.
CHIVALRY 2
Tripwire president John Gibson and Torn Banner Studios president Steve Piggott went up the PC Gaming Show stage together to promote the highly-anticipated first-person medieval hack-and-slasher, Chivalry 2. The game is looking very promising as you can see in the announcement trailer below:
Both Gibson and Piggott are promising a revamped combat system that will be more fluid, fast-paced, and accessible. The game launches in early 2020 and will be an Epic Games Store timed-exclusive.
CONAN CHOP CHOP
Funcom showed off a trailer showcasing the games they still have lined up for the rest of the year. Their big surprise, however, came when they revealed that Conan Chop Chop, once only thought to be an April Fool’s prank, is actually real and will be releasing this year. Check out the game’s announcement trailer below:
Conan Chop Chop launches on September 3rd for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Switch.
AGE OF WONDERS PLANETFALL
Game director Lennart Sas and principal game developer Tom Bird from Triumph Studios looked absolutely ecstatic to talk about their upcoming 4X strategy game, Age of Wonders Planetfall. They gave a good idea of how the tech tree and combat will work. Just beware, Sas says “the future is not a pretty place.” Here’s the trailer they showed off:
Age of Wonders Planetfall comes to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on August 6th.
REMNANT FROM THE ASHES
Gunfire Games’ next offering will have players shooting down dark towering creatures not just on Earth but also in other fantastical worlds. CEO David Adams said that the co-op shooter will feature dynamically generated experiences all stitched together from different hand-crafted elements, giving the game maximum replayability. Here’s a sneak peek:
Remnant from the Ashes launches on August 20th for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Pre-ordering will grant you 4 days earlier access.
PLANET ZOO
Game director Piers Jackson and senior artist Liesa Bauwens from Frontier Developments came to the event to show off the first gameplay trailer for Planet Zoo and to announce its release date. They also mentioned that the game will feature what they believe to be “the most authentic animals” ever seen in a video game. Here’s the gameplay trailer:
Planet Zoo launches on November 5th.
SHENMUE 3
Industry legend Yu Sukuzi himself came to the PC Gaming Show to give players an update on Shenmue 3. While we got a new trailer, some people might not be too happy with the other news about the game: Shenmue 3 will be an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC. Before you start your fit of rage, here’s the new trailer:
Shenmue 3 comes to the Epic Games Store and PlayStation 4 on November 19th.
MANEATER
Tripwire also showed off a new trailer for their upcoming shark RPG, Maneater. The gave us our first look at the game’s main antagonist, Scaley Pete. It looks like Pete and the shark share a bit of history. CEO John Gibson talked a bit about the RPG aspects of the game as well. Here’s Scaley Pete’s reveal trailer:
Tripwire is not ready to announce a release date but Gibson says they are pretty certain it’ll be out before the next PC Gaming Show.
WARFRAME EMPYREAN
Digital Extremes came to the show to tease the upcoming Empyrean expansion for Warframe. Here’s the teaser:
Community director describes Empyrean as bringing the space back in space ninja. A full reveal will happen at this year’s Tennocon on July 6th. Link your Warframe account to your Twitch account and watch the reveal live to get the Nekros Prime Warframe for free.
BALDUR’S GATE 3
Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke and Dungeons & Dragons creative director Mike Mearls answered some questions about Baldur’s Gate 3 during the show. They didn’t have a new trailer to show, but they did walk the audience through the reveal trailer and talk about some of the things they had to consider in making the highly-anticipated game. Mearls also revealed that a new D&D tabletop campaign will be coming soon that will serve as a prequel to Baldur’s Gate 3. As for the videogame, Vincke says they’ll release it when it’s ready.
