Path of Exile 2 Early Access: How to Get In & What to Expect

With numerous updates from the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Path of Exile 2 is gearing up for its Early Access launch in November. Early Access details will be revealed during a livestream at the beginning of November, but we already know some of its contents.

Path of Exile 2 is the next chapter in the series from Grinding Gear Games (GGG). 11 years after the release of the beloved first one, PoE 2 will arrive in Early Access on 15 November 2024. According to the team, Early Access will launch simultaneously on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, and like the first game, it will be Free to Play.

GGG has yet to comment on the specifics of Early Access. However, many players believe the team will adopt a similar approach to the one used for the Fall of Oriath expansion in the 1st game, which might include:

  • Purchase of a dedicated Support Pack costing around €30.
  • Access for anyone who has spent around $500 in the game (Path of Exile).

Early Access seems to offer only the first 3 Acts of the game. These Acts should cover approximately 20 hours of gameplay, and there will be an initial selection of only 8 classes. Endgame content will also be available to entertain fans before the launch of new content and the official full release.

Path of Exile 2: Information Released at the Tokyo Game Show

We received a lot of information from various interviews at TGS 2024. The outlet GameWatch participated in a Hands-On demo of Path of Exile 2, confirming the inclusion of Couch Play with split-screen and intuitive controls on gamepad. There is also considerable freedom in character builds, as Skill Gems are not only tied to equipment.

Finally, Famitsu also shared details about PoE 2, interviewing one of GGG’s co-founders, Jonathan Rogers. As he enthusiastically discussed the bosses in Path of Exile 2, noting that there will be 100 to battle in the full version. Also mentioning that while Acts 1-2 will take about 18 hours to complete, all 6 Acts will cover over 50 hours of gameplay.

Additionally, Path of Exile 2 aims to be more accessible and intuitive for new players without making it easy for veterans. Both Path of Exile games will be supported independently, and some paid cosmetic items will be available across both games.
