What seemed like out of a fictional book is now a reality! Neuralink has unveiled the first human recipient of its brain-computer interface. The surgery was apparently done late last year and has recently gone public with its success so far.

Noland Arbaugh is a 29-year old quadriplegic and gamer at heart. He lost mobility because of a diving accident eight years ago and since that day, he accepted the reality that he can no longer play Civilization 6 how he wants to play it. Until now.

He first started playing a digital version of chess which of course he was ecstatic about. He was then shown to play Mario Kart with his dad, and even finished second! And what he thought was impossible before due to long hours of play, was a reality now. He stated that he was able to stay up until 6am playing Civilization 6.

All these he did with just his mind, thanks to Neuralink!

While he did say that the downside was the eight-hour battery life, Neuralink has changed his life and further said it was worth it. And because of his feedback, Neuralink will surely just get better in time.

Noland’s BCI stats were shared during the presentation posted on his official X account. He has basically done 12 BCI sessions of 5 days with 8 hours each time so far, 111315 left clicks, 35045 right clicks, and 10.13 miles of cursor movement.
