Revealed: Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program – Learn How to Participate

Amid the anticipation for the next Nintendo console, fans were instead met with the surprise of Nintendo Alarmo. Alongside this announcement comes a mysterious invitation for 10,000 Switch users to join the Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program, which is accessible based on registration priority.

The program hasn’t fully revealed its details yet, but it seems to introduce exciting new features for the Switch. To participate, users need to:

Go to the Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program page and click “Apply”.

Have an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership (from 10/10/2024).

Be at least 18 years old (as of 10/10/2024).

Have a registered Nintendo Account from one of the following countries: Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain.

Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program – What We Know So Far

The surprise announcement has left many Nintendo users puzzled, as the participant limit was reached in less than 24 hours. The Playtest will start on October 24 and end on 6th November 2024. Many are speculating about what it might involve, with various theories circulating.

Some believe it could be a game streaming service, while others think it’s a dedicated server test for Splatoon 3 ahead of the Splatfest. Selected users have confirmed that the download file will be 2.2GB, requiring a wired connection during the test— the same size as the Splatfest World Premiere.
