With the start of 2025, NetEase is gearing up to launch Season 1 on Marvel Rivals, bringing plenty of new additions, including the Fantastic 4.

Marvel Rivals is now entering the new year after a fantastic launch. The game debuted on 6th December 2024, to great success and player feedback. Gamers were thrilled to finally try out a new third-person Hero Shooter with Marvel’s diverse and beloved cast.

The success has been so significant that one month later, Marvel Rivals retained about 90% of its players. Surpassing expectations, especially compared to other games of 2024 that quickly lost most of their player base in just a few weeks. And now, 2025 kicks off with the arrival of Season 1 of the game.

Season 1: Eternal Night Falls – Marvel Rivals’ First Season is Here

Just days away from the new update, the NetEase team announces the arrival of the first season of Marvel Rivals. With an animated trailer, we get a sneak peek at what the “Eternal Night Falls” update will bring.

The trailer showcases the Manhattan district of Marvel Rivals’ New York. With the threat of Vlad Dracula conspiring with Doctor Doom and the presence of the Baxter Building, the Fantastic 4 make their appearance. The trailer strongly hiting at the full team arrival alongside new game maps in Season 1.

Marvel Rivals Season 1: What’s Coming

Following the Season trailer, we also have Dev Vision Vol. 03 with Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong, who delve deeper into Marvel Rivals’ new season. Titled Eternal Night Falls, Season 1 is divided into 2 updates over 3 months, offering:

• The Fantastic 4: With Mister Fantastic (Duelist) and Invisible Woman (Strategist) at launch. Human Torch (Duelist) and The Thing (Vanguard) will arrive in the second half.
• New Maps: Including 3 Eternal Night Falls maps – Sanctum Sanctorum, Midtown, and Central Park.
• Season 1 Pass: A new seasonal pass with 10 skins and more content themed around Eternal Night Falls.
• New Arcade Mode: Featuring Doom Match in Sanctum Sanctorum, with 8-12 player matches.
• Hero Balances: Hela and Hawkeye receive nerfs, while Captain America and Venom get movement buffs. Wolverine, Storm, Cloak & Dagger also receive buffs. Finally, Jeff will see tweaks to his Ultimate range.
• Rank Updates: The new season will reset player ranks, introducing Celestial as a new rank between Grandmaster and Eternity.

With these updates come various fixes, including a new performance mode for higher frame rates, mouse acceleration tweaks, and a streamer mode for optimized Marvel Rivals streaming setups. Stay tuned for more surprises when the update arrives.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 Update: Release Date

Marvel Rivals Season 1 brings exciting updates and a strong start to 2025 for NetEase’s Hero Shooter. The update launches on 10th January  2025, covering a 3-month period. The next season will kick off in early Spring 2025.
