LORD OF THE RINGS VIDEO GAMES IN DEVELOPMENT
There have been far too few Lord of the Rings games over the years, but we now know of a fifth LotR video game that’s entered development.
Last year, Embracer Group acquired the rights to the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, including the rights to the movies and video games.
And in a recent earnings report, the Embracer Group revealed five video games are being developed by external companies and will all be released in the next two years.
The Lord of the Rings Video Games in Development:
- The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
- The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
- Weta Workshop LOTR game
- EA Mobile LOTR game
One of the games is the long-awaited Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which has seen multiple delays from its original 2021 release date.
But away from those four games we know about, an unnamed fifth Lord of the Rings game is coming, of which we know absolutely nothing.

The good news for all Tolkien and LotR fans is that the Embracer Group is not likely to stop with these five games, as they have now acquired or merged with 132 game developers, meaning there’s potential for a lot of content and games in the near future.
