Nintendo Switch 2, or as the community calls it, is Nintendo’s next-gen console. A successor to the popular Nintendo Switch, released on 3rd March 2017. It retains the original’s features but with improved graphical power.

This positions the new Switch 2 closer to next-gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, with significant graphic and performance upgrades—addressing the challenging area for game development on the current Switch.


Nintendo Switch 2: Big New Leaks Arrive

Nintendo Switch 2 is undoubtedly the most awaited console in recent years. Highly requested by Nintendo fans and drawing interest from new users eager for NS2’s potential. But just recently, rumors and leaks have been gaining momentum. The latest comes from accessory maker dBrand.

The first leaks came from Reddit user NextHandheld, who shared substantial information about Nintendo’s new console, claiming to have seen the NS2 firsthand. This claim is now backed by more users and dBrand’s confirmation with their Killswitch case ready for Switch 2.



Switch 2: Features According to Leaks

Among the info shared by NextHandheld, additional images were posted by deckwizardyt on Twitter (X), along with details from dBrand. These reveal several key features and dimensions of the new Switch 2, including:


  • Size: 270mm in length (200mm without Joycons), 116mm in height, and 14mm in thickness
  • Screen: An 8” IPS screen at 1080p, according to leaks
  • Joycons: Returning Joycons with magnetic locking mechanisms. Also rumored are Hall Effect sensors to eliminate the drifting issues.
  • Dock and Game Cartridges: A curved design dock and confirmed backward compatibility with Nintendo Switch cartridges.
  • Mario Kart 9: Rumored as a launch title, potentially bundled with the console.
  • Colors: Gray, White, and a Special Mario Kart 9 Edition (MK9).


Switch 2: Alleged Release Date

New leaks also reveal the release date of the new Nintendo console. The Switch 2 is rumored to be revealed in January 2025, with a likely launch in Q1, between February and March, like the 3DS and Nintendo Switch.

We’ll have to wait for more news about Switch 2, especially regarding internal hardware. While not confirmed, it’s expected to rely on Nvidia, probably the NVIDIA Tegra T239 SoC. If the leaks hold, Nintendo could steal the spotlight with its January 2025 announcement.
