Is Prison Architect 2 Cancelled? Paradox Issues A Statement

Prison Architect 2 was initially scheduled to release early this year but then was pushed back until a “final date” of September 3. It was a long wait but players, especially fans of the first one, waited patiently as it was communicated as necessary. At the end of the day, the reviews from the trailer and some participants from multiple beta test groups supported the decision.

A month before Prison Architect 2’s new release date and Paradox announced that it was no longer coming out on the 3rd.

Is Prison Architect 2 Cancelled?

As per Paradox Interactive’s official statement, the game is indefinitely delayed. This has split the gaming community into two: hopeful and not hopeful.

On one hand, gamers are hopeful that Prison Architect 2 would come out better and the decision was somehow influenced by the fiasco of Cities Skylines 2. It was released unfinished and in poor quality. Having the extra time without the pressure of a release date will help the dev team focus on what really matters and fix the issues at hand.

On the other hand however, gamers are already calling out a cancellation in the horizon. The turn of events somehow mimicked the development of Life by You which was delayed a couple of times as well, until Paradox issued an official cancellation two months ago.



For now, Prison Architect 2 is still tagged as delayed rather than cancelled. The next issued statement from Paradox will either give us a release date or a cancellation as they will hold off any updates for now.

What happens to Prison Architect 2 Preorders?

As per Paradox, all preorder will be refunded in the coming weeks regardless of where you bought it. If you made your order through Steam, Playstation, or Xbox, you may contact them straight for the refund support.

And if you ordered straight from paradoxinteractive.com, the refund will be automatic but could take a few weeks. Should you want to expedite it, you can login with your Paradox account on https://wallet.xsolla.com/ and request a refund.
