IKUMA: The Frozen Compass is the new game in development by the indie team of Mooneye Studios, a German development team from Hamburg, known for the popular Lost Ember. It’s an adventure game set in the icy wilderness.
It takes us on a co-op adventure of a young boy and his trusty dog, who find themselves lost in the Arctic and must work together to survive the cold. IKUMA: The Frozen Compass – Official Announcement and Release Date
At The Triple-i Initiative 2025 held on April 10th, the team at Mooneye Studios was among the showcase participants. During this event, they revealed their new project IKUMA: The Frozen Compass for the first time. A new adventure taking us to the Arctic of 1864.
The game is set to launch in 2026 and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’s all accompanied by the announcement trailer showcasing the enchanting world of IKUMA, where we’ll guide young Sam and his dog Ellie to safety, facing the cold and Inuit legends.
IKUMA: Gameplay and Features
The team at Mooneye Studios has already shared some details about IKUMA, confirming that the game is made with Unreal Engine 5, and will be available on Steam, Epic, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. It offers:
- Survival Adventure: A fantastic adventure in the ice, where we’ll need to manage our resources and tools to face hunger, cold, and danger.
- Expedition Mystery: Along our journey, we’ll uncover various clues that tell the story of a lost expedition. A tale buried in the ice with something sinister looming over our trip.
- Play solo or co-op: We’ll need to rely on Sam and Ellie’s unique skills to overcome obstacles. Play either solo or with friends, collaborating and making the best use of the available resources.
