Homeworld 3 is a real-time strategy game and sequel to Homeworld 2 which takes place generations after the events of that game. It is set in a galaxy that has enjoyed an age of abundance thanks to the Hyperspace Gate Network, but of course, peace never lasts forever.

You will play as the commander of a fleet of spaceships and must battle your way through incredible 3D space environments. The game features a new single-player campaign and a new co-op mode called “War Games”. There is also a new fleet persistence system that will allow ships to carry over damage and experience from mission to mission.

In War Games (probably the most awaited part of the game), you will need to work together to manage the fleet against waves of enemies and claim powerful artifacts. It is in this mode that there will be constant content updates, dropping as early as the month after Homeworld 3’s launch on May 13, 2024.



Homeworld 3 Free & Paid DLC Schedule

Homeworld 3 release may be just around the corner but the excitement doesn’t end when it unlocks. The devs have published the game’s one year roadmap of in-game content drops.

There will be both free and paid ones that will be released alternately. The free content will be available to everyone who has the base game while the paid ones will be available only to those with the Year One Pass.

The pass is included in the Deluxe, Fleet Command, and Collector’s Edition. If you bought the Standard Edition and would want to upgrade and get these paid DLCs, Homeworld 3 Year One Pass will be available to purchase separately starting May 13, 2024.

This particular listing however has been unlisted (not delisted) and will not appear in search as requested by the publisher.

 

Homeworld

The DLC drops will be done every month until October then as we enter the 4th quarter of the year, three DLCs are scheduled until next year. From that point, no “estimated month” has been specified.

These drops include new maps, factions, artifacts, and challenges so there is a lot of content to go around after the game’s release. Note though that these updates are exclusive to the War Games co-op mode.

When can I preload Homeworld 3?

Unfortunately, there is no preloading of the game. It will unlock in its entirety on May 13, 2024 11:00 PT/14:00 ET/18:00 UTC. This is of course with the exception of players who pre ordered the Fleet Command or the Collector’s Edition which grants them 72 hours advance access.

If you are eligible for the early access, you can start playing Homeworld 3 on May 10, 2024 11:00 PT/14:00 ET/18:00 UTC.

Where to play Homeworld 3 for free?

Homeworld 3 War Games was available to play for free during its Steam Demo release. The event started on February 5 until February 12, 2024. Unfortunately, it wasn’t extended and was taken out on the 12th. No new demos have been released since then.

There is also no announcement of the game entering Game Pass or any gaming subscription service anytime soon.
