What is Umbraclaw

Umbraclaw is the latest game from INTI CREATES, a developer and publisher primarily of metroidvania games, including some of renown games like some from the Mega Man series. In recent years, they have seen success with the Gunvolt series and also 2D metroidvania spin-offs of other series such as Gal Gun, Yohane the Parhelion (based on Love Live), and also Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 1 and 2. With Umbraclaw, the team offers us the chance to play as the cat Kuon, who has recently passed away in the world of the living. Thus finding herself in the Soulplane, the cat will try in every way to return to her owner, challenging the demons and monsters of this realm.

With a rather unique system, this metroidvania offers various endings thanks to the number of deaths we will experience. All balanced with a 9 lives system, just like it is said cats have, which will allow us to come back stronger than ever by unlocking abilities and skills from the souls of other animals. But Kuon always remains a cat and therefore minimally susceptible to hits. Umbraclaw thus offers a charming metroidvania that brings something new to the formula and with certainly a difficulty not to be underestimated, especially for the best ending with all 9 lives intact. All accompanied by a very pleasant hand-drawn graphic style and a good audio compartment, for a rather compelling price. And don’t forget about the demo available to try the game!
