With just a few days left before the launch of Freedom Wars Remastered, Bandai Namco has released a new trailer revealing what awaits us in this Remastered version.

Freedom Wars is an RPG game developed by Dimps, initially released exclusively for the PSVita in 2014. It takes us to a dystopian future in the year 102014, where humanity lives in underground prison cities called “Panopticon.” The scarcity of resources and the issue of overpopulation pit the Panopticons against one another.

In this world, residents are forced to participate in the war in exchange for reducing their sentence, where being born is considered a crime. All this happens alongside a relentless war against “Abductors,” creatures that roam Earth’s surface. The game offers action-packed missions and an online component with co-op and PvP modes, which made it quite popular in Japan.

Freedom Wars Remastered: The “System Trailer” reveals what to expect

With just days before the launch, the Bandai team presents a new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered. The comprehensive trailer showcases the game world and what it holds for players. Percy Propa, the virtual mascot of our Panopticon, introduces the updates.

Updates include not only modern resolutions and frame rates but also some additions to the base game. It also bundles previously sold DLC content and confirms online playability with the Remastered version.

Freedom Wars Remastered: What’s new in the Remastered

The System Trailer reveals all the updates coming to Freedom Wars Remastered. Here’s what we’ll get:

• Graphics, Resolution, and Framerate: Improved resolution from the PSVita’s 544p and 30fps to up to 2160p resolution and 60 FPS, with enhanced visuals.
• Gameplay Additions: Increased movement speed and the ability to cancel attacks for better combat responses.
• Simplified Crafting and Upgrades: An overhaul has improved and streamlined Crafting and Upgrades, with separate modules for weapons. These can be equipped or removed at will, with an option to upgrade the modules as well.
• Multiplayer: Online co-op returns, along with Versus modes featuring Random Matches or custom settings.
• New Difficulty: The Deadly Sinner Mode limits actions even further, with harsher penalties and longer sentences for mission failures.
• Customization: Customization options include many of the DLC content from the original game.

As Percy Propa promises, many other changes and updates are coming to the game, including various fixes and balances.

Freedom Wars Remastered: Release Date

Freedom Wars Remastered is set to release on 10 January 2025, coming to PS5, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It will also feature a Deluxe “Contribution Edition” including Digital Artwork and the Contribution Boost Pack.

Players will finally get their hands on this former PSVita exclusive with a host of new additions. The game originally sold over 180,000 copies in its first week in Japan back in 2014.
