Escape from Tarkov cheating problem

Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore first-person shooter, and just like any other online PvP game, it has its fair share of problems concerning cheaters trying to get ahead in the game.

The developer Battlestate Games recently banned 11K cheaters and published their names so everyone could see who they were. But despite the bans, players are still complaining about encountering cheaters – even after BG revealed they have introduced new anti-cheat measures.

Of course, cheaters are a pain for players as they increase player frustration, with hacks enabling cheaters to see through walls, shoot with flawless aim with aimbot, and even gain an advantage on the marketplace where they can earn more money and buy better and improved gear.

And just like with any game with cheaters, Escape from Tarkov is at risk of a declining player count, which means a lack of game longevity.

The 11,000 banned cheaters were an attempt by Battlestate Games to earn some trust from the player base, but some on Reddit are still complaining about hackers, with one even saying they encountered cheaters eight games in a row.

Cheaters will always be a problem; there is no real way of dealing with them, as they will always come back with new accounts. To combat that, games like Call of Duty grant other players god mode or invisibility when it’s detected a cheater is shooting them. Other games like Valorant ban those queuing with cheaters for up to 180 days as a way to persuade friends to condone hacking.

Escape from Tarkov is just experiencing what all other online PvP games face, and although 11,000 bans and publishing their names publicly help shame them, there is no concrete way to ensure a safe and fair gaming environment.

In the meantime, on Escape from Tarkov and all your other favorite games, the best way to counter cheaters is to report them in-game when you come across them and to not play with anyone you suspect or know is cheating. Only then can we make our games great again.
