FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki says Elden Ring is almost close to his ideal game, however, he won’t be playing it.

Elden Ring is currently in the final stages of development, and FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki is overseeing it. In a recent interview, Miyazaki stressed his very own policy of not playing his own titles, Elden Ring included.
“I probably won’t play Elden Ring because it’s a game I made myself. That’s my personal guideline, so to speak. You would just not perceive the unknown that new players feel. Like I said, it wouldn’t feel like playing,” he said.
He added that if ever he would play Elden Ring, the game would probably be close to his ideal game. Miyazaki explains that Elden Ring has made some of his favorite video game elements a reality, like fighting a dragon in an epic arena, exploring an open world, and having a proper map, among others — these make it close to his idea of an open world game.
Elden Ring will be available starting February 24, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
