Elden Ring 2 is not currently being planned, according to Hidetaki Miyazaki, president of FromSoftware. The creator of Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series says there are plans for future content for the IP, with Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree up for Game of the Year.
Elden Ring 2 could take a while to see the light of day after creator Hidetaki Miyazaki revealed FromSoftware is working on several other projects and “not considering” a sequel to 2022’s Game of the Year.
Speaking to Game Watch at the PlayStation Awards, Miyazaki stopped short of saying there wouldn’t be future Elden Ring games. FromSoftware does have other projects in development, with Miyazaki hoping fans are looking forward to them. Meanwhile, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is up for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024.
FromSoftware has not revealed any of its ongoing projects. But the developer has some impressive IPs it could be working on. With confirmation we’re not getting Elden Ring 2 just yet, fans will hope for Dark Souls 4, a Bloodborne sequel, or a new entry in the Sekiro franchise.
A break from Elden Ring may not be too surprising. The game has sold over 25 million units since its release on February 25, 2022. Its recent DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, has been a smash hit with fans, resulting in a Game of the Year nomination. Whatever FromSoftware reveals next, there’s sure to be a lot of hype and anticipation.

Shadow of the Erdtree has caused quite a stir after being nominated for the top award at The Game Awards. Regardless of whether you think a DLC should win GOTY, Shadow of the Erdtree is an impressive addition to the base game and is a full triple-A release in its own right.
Shadow of the Erdtree is also nominated for Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best RPG. After the DLC’s continuing success, FromSoftware fans have a lot to look forward to moving into 2025. While fans are eager, FromSoftware is known for taking the time to ensure perfection.
