EA, during a presentation on September 17, 2024, confirms that the Respawn team is working on the next chapter of the Star Wars Jedi series. They also confirmed that this third chapter will conclude Cal Kestis’ story.
During the Investor Day 2024 presentation on 17th September, EA showcased and discussed the upcoming installments of various series, including Star Wars Jedi. Laura Miele, President of EA Entertainment, talked about the success of the series, which has surpassed 40 million players across the two chapters. She also confirmed that Respawn Entertainment is working on the next chapter.
This next chapter will conclude Cal Kestis’ journey, which began with Fallen Order in 2019, set approximately 5 years after the events of the film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from 2023 takes place 5 years after Fallen Order, offering a third-person action game set in the beloved Star Wars universe.
Players have witnessed Cal Kestis’ growth from a young Padawan into a full-fledged Jedi Knight, seeking out survivors of the Great Jedi Purge following the diabolical Order 66, and trying to restore the Order to stop the Empire. Now, we’ll finally be able to see Cal become a true Jedi Master.
EA confirms that the Respawn Entertainment team is already in the middle of developing this final chapter. However, this chapter will not be led by Stig Asmussen, the game director behind Fallen Order and Survivor. As Stig decided to leave Respawn in September 2023, concluding his 14-year role to found the team of Giant Skull.
This news is certainly disappointing for fans and Stig himself, as he hoped to finish the trilogy, taking Cal and his crew to new locations with even higher stakes. However, it’s not unlikely that Stig left notes for the team, as he already had a clear vision for the final adventure in the Star Wars Jedi series.
In short, the final chapter of Star Wars Jedi is under a new Game Director and is expected to be released around 2027. Additionally, according to some rumors, the success of the series has attracted Disney+, which may produce a series based on Cal’s adventure. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait for more news, having plenty of time to play Star Wars: Fallen Order and Survivor.
