Dungeons 4: The Dark Lord Rises on November 9th

After 6 years from the previous entry, Dungeons 4 is finally coming on the 9th November. Dungeons is a strategy and city builder title developed by Realmforge Studios, with its first entry released back in 2011. As the name implies the series revolve around managing a dungeon and fighting as the force of Evil and conquering everything in your path. 

Dungeons 4 is set to release on November 9 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The Switch version is coming at a later date.

What is Dungeons

Dungeons is as mentioned an interesting blending of real strategy with the management of your dungeon. As the Absolute Evil, you’ll need to fortify and upgrade your dungeon, unlocking new techs and strengthen your forces to fight the forces of good that will attack your dungeon, to later expand into a full blown conquest.

You’ll be able to command a plethora of the most common creatures of the Underworld, each requiring maintenance , such as specific foods, drinks and certain buildings. All surrounded by a cartoonish graphic and a really charming dark humor, combined with a unique take of the Heroes vs Demon Lord story.

Story so far

The game takes place after the event of Dungeons 3, which starred the diabolical Dark Elf Thalya, the not so trusted, right hand of the Absolute Evil. As Thalya was essentially your Hero unit, this time around with a perk system, with up to 3 active perks per map

A new mechanic is the Evilfication which is a process that spreads through the area reshaping it in evil fashion. This new mechanic is done by spreading your actions, by destroying villages, defeating bosses, heroes and destroying those pesky Unicorns!

New Features

Apart from Thalya‘s perk system and the Evilfication mechanics, Dungeons 4 brings a whole new Hero faction in the Dwarves. These resources and space seeking factions will compete with you, making them a formidable new enemy from the get go.

A rather welcomed new addition is the co-op mode, where you’ll be able to play together with a friend, either single maps or even the entire campaign. Along with 4x the maps and twice the amount of creatures, new environment and biomes. As well as traps with triggers, new spells, potions and customizations, including the Evil Hand!
