Exploring Arrakis in Dune: Awakening

Dune: Awakening, the upcoming MMO from Funcom, the developer behind Conan Exiles and Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, is currently in closed beta, and Funcom has announced they are preparing to expand it to allow more players in it.

On the vast, deadly planet of Arrakis, your journey will have you exploring canyons, caves, underground ecology labs, rolling dunes, bustling villages, and the lawless desert. You’ll meet characters from the movies and the books and build relationships that you’ll exploit to uncover the mysteries of the sands.

Just like in other MMOs, there’s deep character customization complete with skills and abilities that you can develop and utilize to find valuable natural resources like water and spice, build shelter, and craft tools.

Surviving on Arrakis is not easy, and to do just that, you’ll need to create or join a guild, join one of the Great Houses, learn to protect yourself from ambushes, and apply what you’ve learned in massive, fast-paced battles that take place with infantry and vehicles.

Dune: Awakening beta sign up

There is no exact release date for Dune: Awakening, but as mentioned, Funcom is expanding the Dune: Awakening closed beta and it’s not too late to sign up to it here. Anyone that is accepted to it will be subject to an NDA, so unless you get into the beta, you’ll have to wait like the rest of us to see more of the game.
