Civilization 6 Rise and Fall will See the Return of Gengis Khan and the Mongolians

Rise and Fall, the first expansion for Sid Meier’s Civilization 6, will feature the return of Gengis Khan and the Mongolians. The reveal came a week after Firaxis announced Netherlands would be joining the fray headed by Queen Wilhelmina.

Mongolia will have access to the Keshig, unique mounted archers that allow civilian and support units to move faster. The civ will also be able to build the Ordu, a palace tent that buffs the movement of light and heavy cavalry units. Lastly, Gengis Khan has access to the unique ability Örtoo which gives bonuses to combat strength and diplomatic visibility through trading routes.

Genghis Khan united the Northeast Asian tribes and set on a series of brutal campaigns that established the Mongol Empire, stretching through Eurasia. The Mongol horde has been featured in 4 out of the first 5 main Civilization games and was missing from the 6th when it launched. Genghis Khan has led the Mongolians in all Civ games that featured them, although he was called by his birth name, Temüjin, in Civilization 3.

Civilization 6 Rise and Fall will launch on 8 February.
