3rd game in the excellent The Outlast horror franchise, set during the Cold War. The big new feature is co-op play for up to 4 players. Top-notch sound effects, lots of different missions and secondary objectives, you can lock yourself away, listen in, interact… the atmosphere is excellent, the environment is creepy, and the game is best enjoyed cooperatively. The biggest flaw, the lack of content, has been erased with each update!
Outlast Trials is finally coming to Xbox One with the official launch, initially on preview on PC. Albeit a different approach from the three previous games, Outlast Trials put the player as a test subject for the Murkoff Corporation during the Cold War era. With the objective of experimenting for brainwashing and mind control techniques, we’re put on various Trials with the objective of overcoming them, either solo or in co-op for a terrifying psychological and gory experience.
Outlast must be one of the most successful horror game franchises of all time. The 3rd installment differs from previos ones as it comes with co-op mode, which can be at once scary and fun. I have the feeling though that Red Barrels push their limits on violent environment/graphics, which may not please those who prefer suspense. The Outlast Trials is worth playing if you like violent scenes in horrors.
