About this game

Slave Zero X is a stylized 2.5D hack and slash beat ‘em up game set in a Biopunk world developed by Poppy Works, living machines known as “Slaves” are about to be primed to become the latest of tools of war in humanities long and bloody history. A secret band of warriors known as the guardians hope to stop these biomechanical machines from being unleashed in the world, but one of these warriors have another idea using the enemies own weapon against them merging with a stolen “Slave” unit prototype.

Slave Zero X has a few too many rough spots to make it an easy recommendation, but it isn’t a terrible game. When you get into the groove of combos, cancels and bursts, it can be incredibly satisfying to leave the forces of fascism in bloody chunks on the ground, but the effort it takes to reach that point feels like too much to be worth it. If you’re in the mood for a bloody, execution-intensive beat-’em-up, then Slave Zero X might be for you, but it might be tough if you’re used to playing modern beat-’em-ups.
