I have mixed feelings about Mortal Kombat 1. While I appreciate NetherRealm Studios' commitment to innovation and their track record of delivering intense fighting games, I'm a bit hesitant about the concept of a reborn Mortal Kombat Universe. It's always a risk when beloved characters and stories are reimagined, and I hope they stay true to the essence of what made the series so popular in the first place. The mention of a new fighting system does pique my curiosity, though. I'm intrigued to see how it will change the dynamics of battles and if it will offer a fresh and engaging experience. As for the bone-crushing finishing moves, while they've become a trademark of Mortal Kombat, I hope they strike the right balance between being visually stunning and not overly gratuitous. Despite my reservations, I do appreciate that NetherRealm Studios is overseeing the development of all versions of the game, ensuring a consistent level of quality.
The twelfth opus in the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat 1 arrives as a reboot, with the cards redrawn for the roles of the fighters, in their fraternal ties, antagonisms, stories and so on. It's like a desire to give the franchise a new impetus, to break continuity a little. On top of this, the game features new fighting techniques, arenas with more varied color palettes and less dark scenery, and the famous cameo system. This allows us to merge the moves of any chosen fighter in the background with those of our own fighter to create new combos. NetherRealm seems to be taking its responsibilities seriously and giving itself the means to give a new impetus to its franchise and get back on track against Street Fighter in particular. See you in September.
