I recently got into the Yakuza series, they’re wonderfully crafted games and the only thing comparable to Shenmue nowadays I believe.
If you’re a fan of RPGs, then you can’t really go wrong with it.
I suggest starting with Yakuza 0 and working your way up, before LAD: Infinite Wealth comes out.
SEGA really cooked with these games, and I’m glad they’re getting the recognition they deserve nowadays.
The sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon is almost upon us. This time it’ll take us to both Japan and Hawaii and feature Ichiban and Kiryu among many other playable characters. We can expect an emotional drama of epic proportions with lots of incredible moves and actions in turn-based combat. For the best experience it’s recommended to be familiar with the plot of the Yakuza games, especially Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon Gaiden; The Man Who Erased His Name.
An ambivalent game, with its paradise-like setting on the island of Hawaii and its bloody combat, which is what you’d expect from a beat ’em all. The same ambivalence is found with the 2 characters, whose lives are diametrically opposed. Yet the story brings them together, and you’ll find yourself engaged in a series of martial arts-based battles while alternating between odd jobs and other activities, a role-playing aspect that’s very present and much appreciated.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the newest entry of the Yakuza (old) series as well as the 9th entry in the franchise. Following the events of the 2020 Like a Dragon, and more specifically after the epilogue of the latest The Man Who Erased His Name, this time around have both Kiryu and Kasuga.
Being able to explore not just Isezaki Ijincho, but also Honolulu City! The game will adopt the turn based system as Like a Dragon, offering thus varied cast, amazing side activities and more!
