About this game

Dragon Quest Builder 2 is a block-building style open-world survival crafting game spin-off of the iconic Dragon Quest franchise developed by Square Enix and KOEI TECMO GAMES CO., LTD. The second game in the Builder series is a standalone sequel where you explore a fantasy land that is being threatened by an evil cult “Children of Hargon” determined to outlaw all creative endeavors like building, cooking, creating, etc. you have just recently washed up ashore and only you can defeat the cult and unravel the riddles of this mysterious land.

• Prove yourself as a capable builder and warrior, and help the people of this realm to rebuild their decimated lands, the more you help the more hearts you will receive giving you more recognition in turn making the locals friendlier to you and more likely to work with you.
• Each island in this archipelago has its own unique ecosystem with different materials that you can harvest craft, cook, and experiment with new creations allowing you to learn and grow as a builder.
• Accompanying you in your quest is the mysterious Malroth, an aggressive amnesiac with a fondness for fighting anyone who tries to get in his way, making him an indispensable ally on the battlefield.
• Take on big projects with the help of up to four players online, and build anything you can imagine in this sandbox game.

Block building mixed with RPG and survival elements and even farming works quite well within the Dragon Quest backdrop. Slimes and traditional enemies are fitting for a cute aesthetic like this and I kept wanting to progress further to see what new items I could craft and build with. Able to focus on any aspect you desire, DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS 2 is a great blend of genres and may surprise you with how expansive its world actually is.

It blends its JRPG roots with new inspirations to effectively ask the question: what if Minecraft was a JRPG? Some of the baggage that comes with that should be ironed out for a potential next game, like the unnecessarily long tutorials and exposition dumps. However, the merits that come with that fusion make Dragon Quest Builders 2 a delight when it lets you loose.
