Devour your captors! Carrion flips the horror script. Become an unkillable monstrosity, stalking the twisted facility that held you captive. Consume your tormentors, evolve your grotesque form, and unleash raw carnage in this atmospheric side-scroller.

• Play as a Carrion Monster with lots of red creepy tentacles that have been imprisoned in a facility where scientists would take tests.
• You must escape! Pass through barriers, vents, or anywhere you can fit through.
• As you progress, you will get new abilities as well as grow in size. You will become a force to be reckoned with.

Reviews

Carrion presents you with an opportunity to take the reigns of an invading monster, and it delivers on all fronts with visceral gore and effects that translate vividly even through its pixelated style. The lack of a map combined with navigational and interaction clumsiness make for a more cumbersome Metroidvania formula, but the payoffs of gameplay and exploration outweigh the issues that Carrion presents.

Despite the gameplay and level design being pretty middling, we still think this game is worth a spin. It’s all about the atmosphere, and the organism itself, both of which are rousing successes and worth the price of entry alone.

Carrion offers up a unique spin on the old Metroidvania concept but is let down by maze-like levels and unsatisfying combat. There’s still some fun to be had but ultimately we found ourselves getting more and more irritated with the level design and constant backtracking.
