#BLUD is an action-adventure RPG with dungeon crawling elements save your friends and fight off the vampire apocalypse whilst surviving the horrors of freshmen field hockey practice developed by Exit 73 Studios. Killing the undead is just another day at high school for Becky Brewster a new kid in town latest in an ancient blood line of spell casting vampire hunters. Root out demonic infestations using the towns social media then take selfies with demonic forces to analyze their weaknesses. Teach these vampires a thing or two about messing with Carpentersville High!

• Take on a macabre menagerie of outrageously mutated animals and vampiric townsfolk. Then engage in epic, energetic boss battles as you defend your hometown.
• Hunt the forces of evil in the halls of your high school, convenience store aisles, and shopping malls. Accept missions like bounties from the town’s social media, and track down evil using more modern tech.
• Earn and discover upgrades for Becky’s trusty vampire-slaying field hockey stick to face the mounting challenges ahead including handy powerful attachments like a grappling hook, shovel, and umbrella shield.
• In order to unmask the supernatural demonic legions, you will need to use archaic and new means, translate your family’s mystic grimoire or snap selfies with monsters to tag their strengths and weaknesses.

#Blud is a damned funny title with a great art style. While the combat and puzzles could leave me feeling a bit burnt out at times it’s still an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a beautiful, funny dungeon crawler.

There’s something satisfying about playing a modern game but pulls on those nostalgic strings and #BLUD does that with its stylistic choice. Harkening back to the late 90’s I was instantly pulled into the game by its looks. Once I was there the story, combat and characters kept me involved to see it through the end and it ended up being an enjoyable time. I wish I could figure out some of the side quests, whether that’s how to do them later in the game or find ones I missed but doesn’t take away from a good time. If you dig action adventure, dungeon “crawlery” type games, check out #BLUD.

#BLUD is a valiant attempt to break the mould of the traditional dungeon crawler but it fails to achieve its target at being more than this. If you are a fan of the genre and are up for a challenge then it is worth a play. Just be warned that it’s not only the vampires that are a pain in the neck.
