Assassin’s Creed Rogue is a stealth action game developed by Ubisoft Sofia and Ubisoft Kyiv, the 7th iteration of the franchise it is the darkest chapter in the series yet takes place in 18th century North America right in the middle of French and Indian War, step into the shoes of Shay Patrick Cormac a young member of the Brotherhood of Assassin’s who wants to shape the future of the American colonies but after a botched mission, Shay turns his back on the assassins who in response attempted to end his life. Set out on a mission to wipe out all of those who betrayed you and become one of the most feared Assassin Hunters in Assassin’s Creed History.

• A historical first in the franchise you will play as mortal enemies of the Assassins the Templars hunting down his former brothers. In addition to your Assassin skills, you can equip never-before-seen weapons deadly air rifles for both short- and long-range combat, multiple ammunitions allow for more specialized bullets and grenades.
• Building upon Black Flags naval mechanics, you can cast off on your ship The Morrigan, and fight your way through the icy seas of the North Atlantic and the narrow rivers of America’s river valleys. Fight off assassins trying to board your ship, and make use of new weapons like burning oil and Puckle gun.
• There are three distinct regions you can explore:
  • North Atlantic Ocean – Experience cold winds and towering icebergs of the Arctic allowing for an expansive naval playground.
  • The River Valley – A hybrid setting you will be able to experience the American frontier and seamless river navigation and exploration.
  • New York City – One of the most well-known cities of the world fully recreated as it was in the 18th century.

For players trying to figure out which game to tackle first when two Assassin’s Creed games release on the same day this year, the answer is to start here. Shay’s story closes a number of story loops left behind on the American front of the Templar/Assassin conflict and offers a crucial first step into the new European theater of war. Rogue proves why it’s time for the franchise to chart some new territory, but leaves no doubt about why we fell in love in the first place.

After the dust settles, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue is a good addition to the series. Sure, it doesn’t break new ground and the main character is yet another one of those stereotypical brooding males out for revenge but there is no question the game delivered in the entertainment department. If you are a fan of the series and still clinging on to one of those last-generation consoles, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue has plenty to offer. Just don’t expect an innovative piece of Assassin’s Creed here.
