Bend Studio is still planning “cool” things after Sony recently canceled its unannounced game last week. The Days Gone developer was one of the two studios affected when Sony revealed two PlayStation live-service games were axed, the other being a God of War game from Bluepoint Games.

Bend Studio suffered a setback last week when Sony announced two upcoming PlayStation live-service games had been canceled following a strategic shift. 

The developer of zombie open-world survival game Days Gone says it “still plans on creating cool shit” amid claims it found out Sony was canceling it at “the same time as everyone else.”

Background on the Canceled Project

Although we don’t know much, Bend Studio was reportedly working on a new multiplayer IP that expands on Days Gone.

Bend Studio, like Bluepoint Games, was working on a live-service game for PlayStation. Sony’s strategic reshift has canceled multiple such games after the disastrous and failed Concord.

Bend Studio’s Future Endeavors

Rather than take it sitting down, the developer is looking forward, with community manager Kevin McAllister thanking fans on X for their support before adding: “We still plan on creating cool shit.”

It’s unclear where Bend Studio goes from here. The developer may look to pitch a new single-player, story-driven game like Days Gone, something PlayStation CEO Herman Hulst expressed they were looking for in a recent interview.

Sony’s Strategic Direction

By refining its focus, Sony aims to deliver high-quality gaming experiences that resonate with a broad audience, balancing innovative live-service models with rich single-player narratives.

Of the 12 live-service titles PlayStation said they plan to release by 2026, only Fairgame$ and Marathon remain.
