Developer, Thomas Happ Games, has finally released Axiom Verge 2, and so far, the game has received positive reviews thanks to its new mechanics.

The first Axiom Verge was released back in 2015 and quickly became the standard for Metroidvania games.
Axiom Verge 2 is part of the same storyline as the first game, but you can play either in any order as the second features all-new characters, powers, and world.
The game’s release on August 11 was a surprise and was announced via a Tweet from Tom Happ.
Just as with the first game, it features challenging and unforgiving gameplay, where one mistake can lead to failure.
One new addition to Axiom Verge 2 is The Breach, a space in the last game that was previously inaccessible.
In Axiom Verge 2, The Breach connects universes via a rift, which players can now enter through as they discover secrets, battle foes, and find a way home.
Happ explained in an interview that he saw The Breach as an “additional dimension that could unleash a huge range of opportunities for non-linear exploration.”
Axiom Verge 2 is available to buy now, releasing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
