Atari Gamestation Go – New Handheld Console, Full Reveal at CES 2025

In recent years, we’ve seen a true comeback for Atari. Albeit still as a niche player, the iconic gaming company has introduced some hardware innovations within their lineup.

From the Atari VCS in 2020, a multimedia console paying homage to the Atari 2600, to hardware like controllers, consoles, and arcade cabinets in collaboration with My Arcade. And now, a new surprise at CES 2025, the annual electronics show in Las Vegas.

Atari Gamestation Go: The Reveal of Atari’s New Portable Console

The news comes as a surprise from My Arcade, Atari’s hardware partner specializing in Plug & Play devices. A partner that  has closely collaborated with Atari in recent years for a true revival of the brand on the hardware side, offering numerous options for nostalgic fans.

One standout being the new Atari Gamestation Go. A portable console with a peculiar layout, featuring a numpad and a trackball, accompanied by a D-Pad, ABXY buttons, and an Atari styled analog stick.

Atari Gamestation Go – Confirmed Specifications

From the short teaser, we’ve confirmed some specifications of the new Atari Gamestation Go:

  • 16:9 Screen
  • Shoulder Buttons: L1, L2, R1, and R2
  • Buttons on Top of the Screen: Settings and Credit (left), Start and Select (right)
  • Slider Power Button
  • Home Button
  • Micro SD Slot
  • Volume Buttons
  • Audio Jack Input
  • HDMI Output
  • 2 USB-C Ports

The 16:9 screen is particularly interesting, suggesting broader use for the Gamestation Go. Its dual USB-C ports (marked for Controller 1 and 2) and HDMI output make it a potential pocket-sized retro home console.

Atari Gamestation Go – Speculations on Internal Specs and Features

We don’t yet have official specs for the Gamestation Go, but given My Arcade’s involvement, we can speculate. The most comparable console is the Atari Gamestation Pro, which includes 200 games from Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, arcade, and bonus games for $99.99.

The Gamestation Pro features a Rockchip RK3032, an ARM dual-core processor at 1.0 GHz, paired with a Mali400 GPU. Something similar or the same hardware is likely to power the new Atari Go, with official news expected at CES 2025, which will take place from 7–10 January  2025.
