AI Companions Are Coming: What NVIDIA Has in Store for PUBG and inZOI

At CES 2025, Nvidia had many announcements, not just the new RTX 5000 series, but also the exciting introduction of AI Companions, which we’ll see in PUBG and inZOI.

CES 2025, the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, brought tons of new intriguing stuff. Among the biggest players was none other than Nvidia, revealing the next-gen RTX 5000 series GPUs. With Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4 showcase.

But at the full Keynote, Artificial Intelligence certainly was at the center of the show. Nvidia also introduced a brand new feature for gaming: AI companions coming to PUBG and inZOI among many.

Nvidia Unveils New AI for Games: ACE Autonomous Game Characters

As highlighted in their dedicated article, Nvidia ACE was first introduced in 2023 as part of the RTX tech suite. With Nvidia ACE Autonomous Game Characters, they take it further, introducing a concept where NPC AI interacts more naturally.With ACE AGC, Nvidia aims to replicate human-like behavior in ways understandable by game AI, leveraging ACE small language models (SLM).

The goal is to create virtual companions with human-like behaviors and routines, powered by visual, auditory, and contextual inputs. The idea isn’t just more competent AI but AI that dynamically reacts and “learns” by remembering past events. Delivering reliable allies as well as formidable foes. This innovation is already set for games like Krafton’s PUBG and inZOI.

NVIDIA ACE Autonomous Game Characters in PUBG, inZOI, and More

Nvidia is ready to introduce NVIDIA ACE across several titles in 2025, including:

• PUBG BATTLEGROUNDS: With PUBG Ally, allowing players to control an AI companion through voice commands
• inZoi: Featuring Smart Zoi, adding Co-op companions to the new Life Sim launching in late March
• NARAKA BLADEPOINT: Introducing ACE-powered AI companions
• MIR5: Utilizing Nvidia ACE for its first AI-enhanced Boss

Additionally, Nvidia is introducing other AI-driven features like text-based models and Audio2Face, capable of creating facial animations synced to audio. These features are expected throughout 2025, though the depth of interaction offered by the ACE model will require thorough testing. While some skepticism remains, many see significant potential, especially for single-player and co-op games rather than PvP.
