Blizzard Entertainment has revealed details on the upcoming Diablo 4 Season 1, Season of the Malignant, including its start date.

Diablo 4 continues to break sales records as Blizzard’s fastest-selling video game. Now we have the release date and some information on Season 1, thanks to the recent Diablo 4 developer live stream.
During the recent Diablo 4 live stream, developers showed off the new Blood Knight class being added to Diablo Immortal before they moved onto Diablo 4 and its seasonal content.
We now know Diablo 4 Season 1 is called Season of the Malignant, and it is coming on July 20. That gives you two weeks to complete the campaign if you still need to prepare for the season.
As we already know, there are two battle passes per season: A free battle pass for those who don’t want to pay extra and a premium one for those who bought the game’s deluxe editions or those who want to grind for additional rewards.
During the stream, developers confirmed that the premium battle passes will be entirely cosmetic-based, and anything that enhances a character’s power will be included in the free battle pass so nobody misses out.
As for the theme of Diablo 4 Season 1, the devs revealed a corruption now spreads across Sanctuary, and it is up to players to stop it by defeating Malignant enemies that will drop Malignant items that you can farm for your character.
There will also be new Legendaries for characters not taking part in Season 1, and these and much more, including bug fixes, will come to Diablo 4 on July 18 in a massive patch that will include the season content ready for its launch on July 20.
