Recent Xbox Podcast brings important news about the content that Microsoft is planning to bring in 2024. With some revelations that seem to show a multi-platform approach that Microsoft has decided to adopt in recent years.
Diablo 4 Coming to Xbox Game Pass
A major announcement from the podcast revolves around the arrival of Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass starting 28 March 2024. This marks a significant historical step for the franchise and the potential future of games under the Activision Blizzard banner. Thanks to Microsoft’s acquisition of one of the most renowned gaming companies in the industry, it can now offer titles with a large following at a more accessible price.
This could also entail a potential shift from the time-based subscription of WoW to one based on Xbox Game Pass. There is also the possibility of seeing other titles from the Call of Duty and Overwatch series added to the Pass soon, as well as helping games regain and maintain a more active community with new players.
Xbox-branded Games Also Coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation
During the podcast, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft’s Gaming division, seems to suggest that some Xbox exclusive titles may also be released on the consoles of rival companies, Nintendo and PlayStation. Although he did not specify which titles, Spencer talks about 4 exclusive games that will soon also come to Nintendo Switch and PS5/PS4. This, the CEO emphasizes, is part of Xbox’s choice to offer as multiplatform, well-established games whose strength lies precisely in the community and have been out for at least a year on Microsoft platforms.
Therefore, bringing these 4 games to other platforms would help these games maintain an active community. It is not yet known exactly what these titles are, although rumors seem to point to Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves. As for the multi-platform games already confirmed before the acquisition of Activision Blizzard and Bethesda, Microsoft’s intention is to honor the agreements made and bring them to the respective consoles of the competition.
What to Expect from 2024 with Xbox Game Pass
The team during the podcast continues to reassure that throughout 2024 we will see many new Xbox-branded titles, an incredible 2024 adds. We have confirmation of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and Towerborne. And there are also new updates and seasonal events for Call of Duty, Minecraft, Forza, The Elder Scrolls Online, and even Microsoft Flight Simulator. In short, a 2024 full of many titles for all tastes, which combined with the 34 million subscribers to the Game Pass service, seem to portend another good year for Xbox.
