An accidental character reveal was made by Nintendo Korea for the Switch 2 exclusive Donkey Kong Bananza.

Donkey Kong Bananza was officially revealed as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and ever since, fans of the iconic ape have been filled with excitement. With little more than a cinematic teaser and a launch date, DK loyalists have been eager for any new detail. And now, it looks like they got exactly that, thanks to Nintendo Korea mishap.

The slip-up was quickly “corrected,” but not before fans managed to snag screenshots. If you’re trying to go in blind, be warned: this article contains a spoiler that may reveal a significant returning character.

Donkey Kong Bananza Character Leak

Over the weekend, Nintendo Korea posted an image meant to showcase the game and accidentally unveiled a familiar face.

The now-deleted image featured what appears to be a younger-looking Pauline, the original damsel in distress from the classic Donkey Kong arcade game. This version of Pauline appears reimagined for the new generation, possibly as a playable character or a central figure in the game’s story. While the image was swiftly taken down and replaced with a version without her, it was too late. Eagle-eyed fans had already taken screenshots and started sharing theories online.

Nintendo has yet to comment on the leak, and no official announcement has been made regarding Pauline’s return or any other supporting characters. But with the game’s release date set for July 17, we can likely expect more reveals and possibly a proper character showcase in the coming weeks.
