Hideo Kojima Reveals Death Stranding 2
Legendary game developer Hideo Kojima has dropped a ton of new details about the upcoming Death Stranding 2 at the PlayStation State of Play, which is set to release sometime in 2025.
Officially titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Hideo Kojima’s highly-anticipated sequel to 2019’s action game Death Stranding will once again star Norman Reedus, who plays Sam Bridges, a porter attempting to reconnect the United Cities of America by delivering cargo and expanding the Chiral communication network.
During the State of Play, we were treated to a 10-minute showcase of Death Stranding 2’s gameplay, story, characters, and environments as Hideo Kojima does Hideo Kojima things with over-the-top personalities, impractical weapons, and stunning visuals.
Once again playing as Sam Bridges, we will find ourselves on a new adventure to save the UCA and humanity from extinction from familiar and all-new enemies.
Back from the first game is Higgs (The Man in the Golden Mask), Sam’s nemesis, this time with a new appearance that makes him look like something from a supernatural superhero comic book. In the video, he’s wielding an electric guitar, come sword, come cannon as he fires riffs and death in equal measures against a robot samurai believed to be Lou (BB-28) from the first title.
Lou isn’t Sam’s only companion this time, as the trailer reveals a bizarre puppet strapped to Sam’s side that is not only rendered with a different frame rate from everyone else but has somewhat of a mouth on him. It’s clear from the video that your companions will add flavor and challenges to your journey.
What is also clear is that Hideo Kojima is set to release another unforgettable game with Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. It’s got everything you’d expect: Life-and-death challenges, bizarre characters, and an action-packed narrative that pushes boundaries through art and technology. He’s unconventional, and that’s why he’s so loved.
As for a release date. You can expect to see Death Stranding 2: On the Beach release in 2025 exclusively for PS5. We may possibly see a PC release date in 2026.
