Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.21 Released: DLSS4 Enhancements and Xbox Fixes on the Horizon

The CD Projekt Red team brings the new Update 2.21 to Cyberpunk 2077, with various fixes for Xbox and PC, including DLSS4.

Cyberpunk 2077 (CP77) is the open-world action-adventure game by CD Projekt Red, based on Mike Pondsmith’s classic tabletop RPG series. Set in the dystopian future of 2077 in Night City, it offers a first-person role-playing experience filled with action and corporate intrigue.

Officially launched on December 10, 2020, after multiple delays, the game was praised for its story but criticized for launch bugs. The team has since focused on improvements, with the Phantom Liberty DLC in 2023 and various enhancements and additions from updates.

Cyberpunk 2077: Update 2.21 Arrives

CD Projekt Red introduces version 2.21 of Cyberpunk 2077, announcing its availability in a Twitter (X) post on January 23, 2025. A little over a month after version 2.20 was released in December 2024.

The new update brings numerous fixes, including several dedicated to Photo Mode , as well as SmartFrames on Xbox. Plus, the Graphics Quality Preset now works as intended on Series S. With Nvidia DLSS 4 support added for PC.

Cyberpunk 2077 Version 2.21: What’s New?

Version 2.21 doesn’t just add DLSS 4 and Photo Mode fixes. The team discusses it more in detail on the official blog. But here’s a short summary:

• DLSS 4: Added Nvidia’s DLSS 4, featuring the Ray Reconstruction Transformer Model for better upscaling quality compared to CNN, with about a 10% performance cost. Being able to choose the preferred method.
• Multi Frame Generation: With the recent announcement of the GeForce RTX 5000 series, DLSS 4 now supports Multi Frame Gen.
• Run This Town: A long-awaited fix addressing the issue with deactivating Aguilar’s imprint after meeting Bennet.
• Photo Mode: Various fixes to effects, camera, and specific issues with Adam Smasher. Also addressed UI bugs and game issues caused by Photo Mode.
• Vehicle and Character Creator Fixes: Fixed vehicle colors affected by CrystalCoat and certain interactions. The Character Creator now correctly saves customization options.
• Consoles: Numerous fixes to Photo Mode on Xbox, especially related to Gallery issues causing UI bugs and blank photos when HDR10 was enabled. Plus, the Quality Preset now works properly on Series S.

A significant update mostly focused on fixes. Also, a great opportunity to test the new Transformer Model for DLSS 4’s Ray Tracing and Multi Frame Gen with the RTX 5000 series. Perfect time to dive back in and grab the Phantom Liberty DLC at the best price!
