Cubic Odyssey is the new game in development by the Californian team Atypical Games. Published by Gaijin Network Ltd, the game offers a galactic open-world adventure. All set in a voxel-style sandbox game world.
Offering an adventure that in some ways feels like a mix between intergalactic adventures in the style of Starfield and No Man’s Sky, and the timeless Minecraft. The game was announced on February 15, 2025, and is expected to launch in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Taking advantage of Steam Next Fest, the team at Atypical Games announces a game demo for their Cubic Odyssey. The new game is in development with a planned release by the end of 2025. The demo gives us a small taste of what the full game will offer.
Specifically, we get to explore one of the planets in Cubic Odyssey. We can freely explore the planet, meet various NPCs, gather resources, and face enemies. Not to mention the ability to build bases and repair our spaceship. With around 2-4 hours of content to play with the Miner class.

Cubic Odyssey: Features and Upcoming Content
The team at Atypical Games has shared further news about Cubic Odyssey in recent weeks. Specifically, regarding features and content that the team plans to implement, including:
- Alone, Co-op, or Multiplayer: We’ll have the option to play alone or in co-op with friends. The team also confirms that an internet connection is required for single-player mode.
- Procedurally Generated World: A lot of the planets will feature procedurally generated fauna and flora. Additionally, pirate bases, ruins, cities, enemies, and even Red Darkness infestations will be randomized.
- A Journey Without Load Screens: The team promises that we can jump from one planet to another without loading screens. Loading screens will only appear at the start and when loading saved games.
- Space Exploration: We’ve confirmed that not only can we travel from planet to planet, but we can also explore open space. With our spacesuit, we’ll be able to explore abandoned spaceships or recover resources from asteroids, etc.
The team is also discussing internal support for modding and spaceship upgrades via modules. They confirm that the game will be Buy to Play, with possible DLCs as part of future content.
